On September 8, 1998, the Hudson
River Park Act (the Act) was approved and became effective,
pursuant to its enactment by the State Legislature. The Act identifies
the boundaries of Hudson River Park, establishes the water areas
as an estuarine sanctuary, and creates the Hudson River Park Trust
as a public benefit corporation with the mandate to design, construct
and maintain the Park. Also established by the Act is the Trust
Board of Directors and Advisory Council.
The Act also authorizes the Trust to adopt,
amend or rescind such rules, regulations and orders as may be
necessary for the performance and exercise of its duties. We encourage
park visitors to become familiar with the rules and policies listed
to the left.
