The next several years will be an exciting time for Hudson River
Park, as construction will be ongoing in several areas simultaneously.
In Segment 3, Piers 25 and 26, and in Segment
5, Piers 62, 63, and 64 are currently
being rebuilt.
On July 6, 2006, the Hudson River Park Trust broke
ground on the Tribeca section of the park – also known
as “Hudson River Park Segment 3.”
Ultimately, the five-mile area from Battery Place to 59th Street
will share a number of common design elements (such as the railing
and esplanade treatments) to help create the park’s signature
identity. To provide for diverse landscape and recreational experiences,
the Trust has selected different designers for each park segment.
This results in each geographic area having its own distinct mood,
not to mention uniquely designed playgrounds, art, boathouses,
historic interpretive installations, and other park elements.
