Every summer, Hudson River Park hosts groups of campers from all over New York City – and occasionally beyond – at several of the park’s locations.
Each activity is limited to 25 participants; however larger groups may be split to alternate between two programs (i.e. - Fishing and Recreation). Duration varies depending on age level and program content. Please allow between one to two hours for a trip.
Big City Fishing
Learn about the ecology of the Hudson River as you enjoy this popular park tradition. After learning about fishing safety and sportsmanship ethics, campers learn to fish using rods, reels, and bait. Fishing is catch & release. Campers can examine live specimens and identify their catch using the Hudson River Park Fish Poster.
Walking Tours
Camps electing the History Tour follow the Greenwich Village Walking Tour. Camps on the Butterfly Tour explore park gardens to identify plants, birds and insects, with a focus on the life cycle of the monarch butterfly.
Recreation
This is offered in conjunction with our other programs. Campers can select among many activities that focus on physical education, including tug-of-war, bounce ball races, stick and hoops, and other kids’ games.
