Floatables and flotsam arrive in Hudson River Park daily with the tide and through the thirty-three combined sewage outfalls that discharge into the river on rainy days.
To help care for the over 400 acres of water in the Estuarine Sanctuary, the Trust created the Clean Sanctuary Campaign to involve and educate the community and remove debris from the river. This is a permanent, year-round volunteer and education program for the Hudson River Park Estuarine Sanctuary. We also partner with Friends of Hudson River Park and others to attract volunteers for this ongoing program.
Hudson River Park Trust participates in International Coastal Cleanup Day through the Clean Sanctuary Campaign and American Littoral Society.

Hudson River Park operates a variety of educational and environmental programs. The Park's unique waterfront and its New York State classification as an estuarine sanctuary offer a perfect venue for learning about the preservation, ecology and history of the Hudson River and its Manhattan shoreline.
