Hudson River Park Trust offers class field trips and tours during the school year and for summer camps emphasizing ecology, history, and horticulture. Read more details about each program by clicking on the links at right.

The Trust currently offers ecology based hands-on field trips covering: water quality, plankton and fishing. History field trips are primarily centered in the Chelsea and Greenwich Village areas where resources include waterfront history, historic vessels, and historic railroads. Horticulture is emphasized at the new gardens in Greenwich Village and Chelsea. These trips are led by a Park Educator.

To schedule field trips, print, fill out and submit the downloaded application. For more information contact the Education Coordinator at 917-661-8751. Educational program consulting is available to help customize a curriculum that utilizes the Park’s resources based on class need and demand. Lectures are free but the Trust does ask for donations when possible.

Park Partners are also very active with field trips and tours:

In Chelsea, Pier 66a is an historic railroad barge and railroad car with open house on the historic Lightship Frying Pan. The fireboat John J Harvey, is also docked at Pier 66a. Chelsea Piers emphasizes sports and physical education.

In West Midtown, at Pier 86, the Intrepid Sea-Air-Space Museum has educational tours for classes and independent explorations. NY Sun Works’ Science Barge, a sustainable urban farm, offers educational tours and programs at Pier 84.
