Hudson River Park Trust loves the dogs and the dog owners who visit the park as part of their daily routine. Hudson River Park Trust has three off-leash dog runs currently available for our 4-legged friends’ enjoyment. Leashed dogs also are welcome to enjoy strolling in the park and pier walkways in the company of their handler.

Dog Runs
Chelsea Waterside: 22nd and 11th Avenues.
   Chelsea Waterside Dog Run Advisory
Greenwich Village: Leroy St. at the northeast corner of Pier 40. This location has an accompanying dog lawn.
North Chelsea: Pier 84 at W. 44th St.

Dog Lawn
North of the Leroy Street dog run, Hudson River Park Trust has dedicated a small patch of natural lawn for dogs to enjoy. This is the ONLY lawn, synthetic or natural, on which dogs are allowed to be within the park. Dogs are required to be on a leash outside the dog runs (including on the ‘dog-lawn’), and handlers are obliged to clean up after their animals.

For everyone’s safety and enjoyment:

The dog run areas are open from 6am until 1am, unless otherwise posted.

Dogs may not be left unattended.

Dogs are allowed to run off-leash inside the dog runs.

The dog run is NOT a playground. Children under the age of 12 must be accompanied by an adult and should be closely supervised.

Entry and use of the dog run is at your own risk.

Water is generally available for pets inside the dog runs from mid-April through early November.

Benches are provided for dog owners/handlers.

Skateboards, bicycles, scooters and strollers must be left outside the dog run.

Dog runs are cleaned at least twice a day. Cleaning hours are posted at each of the dog runs and are subject to change.

Clean up after your dog. Animal waste must be promptly removed and properly disposed of.

Dogs must be licensed and have all
shots and tags.

Not Permitted
Spike or Pinch Collars
Aggressive Dogs
Female dogs in heat
Food and glass bottles
Dogs left unattended

Why are dogs not allowed on other Park lawns or in planted beds?

Does my dog have to be on the leash
at all times?

Yes, dogs in the park are required to be on a leash no longer than 6 feet at all times. The only exception to this rule is inside the dog runs. Please be advised that the Parks Enforcement Patrol (PEP) officers will enforce park rules and issue summonses for offenses.
