A "get-down" is a special design
feature in Hudson River Park intended to get people closer to the
water. Park get-downs are designed lower to the water west of the
bulkhead, with a railing for public safety. School groups, anglers
and others can make use of these structures to get closer to the
water. The park's first get-down at Pier
95 opened in Spring 2005 to rave reviews.
