RiverFlicks to screen Super 8 and classic Superman this week

July 16

Among New York’s best free summer outdoor film series, Riverflicks for Kids and Riverflicks for Grownups show movies each week during the summer. Riverflicks’ second week features the JJ Abrams and Steven Spielberg production Super 8 (PG 13) and the classic, 1978 Superman, The Movie (PG).

Super 8, which screens on Wednesday, July 18th, tells the story of a group of friends who witness a train crash while making a movie on their super-8 camera during the summer of 1979. After strange things begin to happen, they try to uncover the truth behind the accident.

The model for all superhero films, Superman, The Movie, shows on Friday, July 20th at Riverflicks for Kids. Christopher Reeve’s Superman must defeat Lex Luthor – the evil supervillian bent on world domination – while maintaining his secret identity as Daily Planet reporter, Clark Kent.
